Quones (page 3)

A couple of baby cones, hiding in the darkness.

You can barely make them out in the lower left there.

Aside from one more full-size cone which I could not get a safe picture of, I saw no others.  I have to assume that something attacked the nest overnight, leaving these two as the only survivors. I don't know if they will survive long enough to mature in this hostile environment. Perhaps the speed limits are just set unusually low to protect the baby cones from speeding traffic.

So I headed back home, rather dejected.  And it was such a promising lead, too.  Near my home, I got to the San Antonio Road overpass at the railroad tracks and snapped a photo of a long line of cones, just to make me feel better.

Well that was no fun, it was too dark anyway to get that shot.  This day is getting truly depressing.  What would make me feel better?  Well, perhaps some donuts.

Not just any donuts!  Manley Donuts!  Kibo will now write a 900 word essay about Manley Donuts.
