Maude Avenue Interchange

Some quick shots of the CA 237/Maude Avenue interchange in Sunnyvale, a SPUI (Single-Point Urban Interchange). These are somewhat unusual and/or confusing if you haven't seen them before. Unfortunately the lighting wasn't very favorable under the bridge at the time I took the photos. (12/19/99 mid-afternoon)

Approaching the interchange on Maude Avenue southbound. The sign on the right says 237 West (with a right arrow), East - Left Lane

Looking south at the interchange. Note the neat crosswalks on the right side (they do the same thing on the other side of 237, so you have a bit of a winding walk to get across.) The overhead traffic lights (mounted on the overpass) are diagonal left arrows pointing in the direction of the eastbound ramp.

Closer shot. You can see the two turning lanes crossing in the middle of the intersection.

Same thing from a different angle.

Looking northbound.

Same thing a bit closer.

You can see some of the pavement markings here.
